Vale Peter Reid

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Peter Reid, who was our Board Treasurer from 2019 until 2024. Peter passed away on the 1^{st of} January 2025 and was 79 years old.  Peter joined the CoPower Board as a volunteer member director from Ballarat Renewable Energy and Zero Emission (BREAZE).  Peter was community mined, committed to social justice and looking after our environment.  He was a retired engineer who contributed immensely to the establishment of our cooperative, including our democratic budget, organizational strategy, financial and administrative systems.  Peter was passionate about growing our cooperative so that energy could be a public good and all households could benefit from the transition to renewable energy. On a personal level Peter has been a great mentor and provided a steady hand as we have built our cooperative from the ground up.  Peter contributed immensely to our cooperative and he will be greatly missed.
