CoPower Democratic Gas Budget Update

We believe that energy should work in the interests of people, and we’ve been putting the power in our customer members’ hands since we were founded in 2018. One of the ways we do this is by running democratic budgets whereby our customer members vote on where revenue is allocated to have its greatest impact.

Based on our customer member’s request, early this year we launched our gas product, under the strict condition that all revenue from gas would go to help our customer members reduce their energy use, save money and where possible get off gas. We are excited to be launching this budget to determine how this revenue is allocated and how it can best support these aims.

As part of the democratic process, we asked our customer members for their top ideas of how this budget should be spent.
So far we received 67 suggestions, of which most are categorised into the following types:

• Subsidise, incentivise or fully cover costs of ways to reduce energy use, save money and / or electrify
• Facilitate bulk buying upgrades to save costs of upgrades
• Assistance / information for to make it easier to get off gas
• Information / resources to help save energy

Below is an overview of the dates for our Democratic Budget:

1. July 5th | Share your suggestions
   Customer members share their top ideas for how these funds can be used to help customer members with gas to reduce energy use, save money, benefit from electrification, and where possible get off gas. This is still open, you can share your suggestions here.
2. July 19th | Review of suggestions
   Here are the results of customer members’ top ideas so far for you to review prior to our meeting.
3. 12.30 noon AEST Friday 25 July | Meeting to review suggestions and voting process
   Customer members have the opportunity to attend an online meeting to discuss and evaluate the suggestions, and process for voting. You can register for this online meeting here.
4. August 1st | Voting begins
   Customer members have the opportunity to vote on which initiatives the gas budget revenue should be allocated to.
5. August 29th 2025 | results announced
   Results of the vote will be announced and the $14,000 gas revenue allocated over next 12 months.
