Voting options
August 1, 2025In 2024 CoPower customer members voted to allocate $10,000 to Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network’s Grassroot Gathering. Instead of spending lots of money on advertising and corporate bonuses, CoPower puts the power back in the hands of our household members, who voted to support this inspiring project.
In October 2024, 26 First Nations young people from across the continent gathered in Naarm / Melbourne for three powerful days of learning, connecting and importantly – planning. The Grassroots gathering was a great success and the participants left ready to protect Country and fight for climate justice.
“Inspired, like I have the world at my fingertips after the Gathering”
– Participant testimony.
They participated in peer- led workshops led by Seed staff and core volunteers that are catered to different knowledge levels. SEED’S peer-to-peer engagement model follows four key ingredients:
– Confidence and belief that we can make a difference;
– Knowledge of the issue and skills to take action;
– Connection to like-minded young people, and;
– Opportunities, resources and support to be part of national campaigns that create real world change
Attendees participated in a range of workshops including:
● Climate change and impacts
● Enacting climate justice
● Landscape analysis
● Campaign strategy and action planning
● Communicating climate change
● Defining your personal narrative
● Social media and communicating your campaign
We look forward to seeing the ongoing impact of this workshop and the successes of these young Indigenous leaders into the future.
