Why we’re offering gas:

Gas is a dirty fossil fuel that contributes to the climate crisis – and one we need to rapidly phase out to limit the catastrophic climate impacts. So you may be wondering why we’re offering it?

Many customer members are renting with gas appliances, can’t afford or aren’t able to convert their energy utilities to all electric. They told us that if they had to buy gas, they would rather buy it from a trusted not for profit organisation, where all profits go towards change making. And in addition they told us that any profits from gas should go to initiatives to assist customer members to reduce energy use and where possible, transition away from gas. We listened and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

All profits from gas will go into a member benefit fund to offer savings to CoPower customer members. We will partner with Earthworker Cooperatives ecosystem of worker cooperatives to offer discounted  home thermal assessments, draught proofing, super energy efficient heat-pump hot water systems and more.

This means if you’re buying gas you can feel better knowing that any surplus proceeds are going towards change making, rather than lining the pockets of the corporate billionaires.
