In praise of the humble ceiling fan

Here’s an energy efficiency story from one of our members, Suzanne.

I think ceiling fans are underrated for keeping cool. They are particularly effective in bedrooms to aid sleep on hot nights rather than putting the split system on. They are relatively inexpensive to buy and have installed and are energy efficient to run. I find I start off with the ceiling fan in the living space in summer and wait for as long as I can before I have to put on the more expensive to run cooling on.
