Cooperative Power endorses School Strike 4 Climate’s September 25th School Strike and supports the call from the global high school student climate strike movement for no public funds for gas and other damaging fossil fuel projects (check out our official resolution in the above image).
Instead, recovery funds should be spent on:
- Resourcing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led solutions that guarantee land rights and care for country
- The creation of secure union jobs that fast track solutions to the climate crisis and help communities recover
- Projects that transition our economy and communities to 100% renewable energy by 2030, through expanded public ownership.
Not only do we endorse the Sept 25th Global Day of Action, but we are also encouraging our customer members to take part in the action in COVID-safe ways. So check out the official events page here to find an action near you that you can participate in!
